Michelle is a Clinical & Counselling Psychologist, working as a therapist, supervisor and trainer with over thirty-five years clinical experience. She is currently in private practice in Annandale as a couple and individual therapist. Michelle has been exploring how practitioners can work with emotions in an Emotionally Focused manner. She has written many published articles dealing with the therapeutic relationship, emotional abuse in therapy, the therapist's presence, couple responsibilities, couple process and ambivalence.
Michelle has been developing the Emotionally Focused approach to therapy, which acknowledges both the real and the symbolic aspects of the therapeutic relationship and focuses on developing nurturing ways to facilitate the discovery and healing of the Inner Child in individual and couple work.
More recently Michelle has been developing the theory and practice behind emotional signatures. In partnership with Macquarie University, the constructs underlying emotional signature have been researched and applied in the undergraduate psychology, practitioners and clinical settings.
Michelle is a member of the Australian Psychological Society, College of Clinical Psychologists, College of Counselling Psychologists, the Australian Society of Hypnosis, and the Australian Institute of Training and Development.
